Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This policy explains what information Emerge (“Emerge”, “we”, “us”) collects, why, and the choices you have. Emerge is a personal-growth app; a lot of what you share with it is personal, and we treat it that way. If anything here is unclear, email support@theemerge.app.
Information you give us
- Account details. You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or continue anonymously. Depending on the method, we receive a user identifier and, if you choose, an email address.
- Your age. We ask your age at the start to confirm you meet our minimum age of 13. We store it, not your date of birth.
- What you share in the app. Your onboarding answers, the responses you give in sessions, your written reflections, and your conversations with the Guide. This is the heart of what Emerge works with.
- Your progress. The stars, dimensions, and strategies you build up as you use Emerge.
Information collected automatically
- Diagnostics. We use Sentry to receive crash reports and error logs so we can fix problems. These may include basic device and app details.
- Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription and when it renews, so we can unlock the right features.
We do not track you across other apps or websites, we do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not show ads.
How your answers are processed by AI
Emerge’s sessions, readings, and Guide replies are generated by AI. To do this, the relevant text you provide (your session answers, reflections, and Guide messages) is sent through our own secure server to our AI provider, xAI, and returned as your personalised content. It is used only to create your experience — never to advertise to you, and we never sell it.
For your safety, any message that appears to signal self-harm is caught before it is sent and is never transmitted to the AI; instead the app points you toward real human help.
If voice narration is enabled, the text to be read aloud may also be sent to our voice provider (ElevenLabs) to generate audio.
How we use your information
- To create and personalise your sessions, readings, constellation, tips, and Guide conversations.
- To provide, maintain, and improve the app, and to fix bugs and crashes.
- To manage your subscription and access.
- To keep the service safe and to comply with our legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that make Emerge work, and only as needed:
- Supabase — secure authentication and database storage.
- xAI — generating your AI content, as described above.
- Apple & RevenueCat — processing and managing in-app subscriptions. Purchases made on our website are processed by Stripe.
- Sentry — crash and error reporting.
- ElevenLabs — optional voice narration.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all of its associated data at any time from within the app, or by emailing support@theemerge.app. Once deleted, your data is removed from our systems (backups are purged on a rolling basis).
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the Australian Privacy Act, the EU/UK GDPR, and the California CCPA), you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at the email above and we’ll respond within the timeframe the law requires. You may also withdraw consent or, where applicable, lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Children
Emerge is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If we learn that someone under 13 has created an account, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Security & international transfers
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest with our providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit who can access it. Our providers may process and store data on servers located in the United States and other countries; where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Emerge evolves. If we make a material change, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
